Trichloroethylene (TCE) is a colorless, transparent, and volatile organic solvent with the chemical formula C2HCl3. It has a similar odor to chloroform. It is insoluble in water, but can be mixed with organic solvents such as ethanol and ether. It is an important industrial chemical widely used in fields such as metal degreasing, electronic component cleaning, dry cleaning agents, refrigerants, and chemical synthesis.
