Tetrachloroethylene (TE), also known as perchloroethylene, is a colorless liquid with a distinctive odor. It is stable at room temperature, but can decompose into highly toxic substances when exposed to light, moisture, or high temperatures. Its chemical formula is C₂Cl₄, with a molecular weight of 165.83, a density of 1.622 g/cm³, and a boiling point of 121°C. It is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents such as ethanol and ether.

Product Application
1. It is mainly used in the production of dry cleaning solvents, metal degreasing, and chemical intermediates. Due to its strong cleaning ability and recyclability, it is widely used in the dry cleaning industry.
2. Toxic hazards: Belonging to moderate toxicity, inhalation or contact may cause symptoms such as dizziness, nausea, and difficulty breathing. In severe cases, it can lead to coma or liver and kidney damage. In 2017, it was listed as a Class 2A carcinogen, and in 2019, it was included in the list of toxic and harmful water pollutants in China.
3. Storage requirements: It needs to be sealed and stored away from light, avoiding contact with strong oxidants and active metals such as barium and lithium, as high temperature environments may cause decomposition.
