Sodium polyacrylate (C₃H₃NaO₂)ₙ, CAS No. 9003-04-7, is a high-molecular-weight polymer electrolyte, soluble in water, and possesses extremely strong water absorption, dispersibility, and chelating properties. It appears as white or light yellow granules/powder and forms a transparent solution in water. Sodium polyacrylate exhibits excellent water absorption and swelling, dispersibility, anti-scaling, and stabilizing properties, making it an important functional polymer material widely used in daily chemicals, agriculture, water treatment, building materials, and industrial cleaning industries.

Main Application Areas
1. Absorbent Materials
It is a key component of Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP), capable of absorbing and retaining hundreds of times its own weight in water. Widely used in: baby diapers, sanitary napkins, incontinence products, pet pads, medical dressings, etc., exhibiting excellent water absorption and moisture retention properties.
2. Detergents and Daily Chemical Products
As a dispersant, anti-redeposition agent, and water softener, it prevents dirt re-adhesion and improves cleaning performance. Widely used in laundry detergents, liquid detergents, and dishwashing liquids.
3. Water Treatment and Industrial Cleaning
As a scale inhibitor and dispersant, it prevents calcium and magnesium ions from forming scale in water. Applications include boiler water, circulating cooling water, reverse osmosis systems, and wastewater treatment in papermaking and textile dyeing.
4. Agriculture and Horticulture
As a water-retaining agent, it is used for soil improvement and agricultural irrigation in arid regions, enhancing soil water retention, reducing water evaporation, and improving fertilizer utilization efficiency.
5. Building Materials and Coatings:
Used as a thickener, dispersant, and rheology modifier in cement, mortar, and coatings to improve workability and finished product stability.
