Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a water-soluble polymer widely used in industries such as water treatment, petroleum extraction, papermaking, textiles, etc. It has characteristics such as flocculation, thickening, and drag reduction.
Basic characteristics
Polyacrylamide (PAM) is a homopolymer of acrylamide or a polymer copolymerized with other monomers. Its chemical formula is (C₃H₅NO)ₙ, and it appears as a white or slightly yellow powder. It is soluble in water and insoluble in most organic solvents. Its molecular weight is usually between 100000 and 20 million, and can be divided into four types based on ionic characteristics: non-ionic, anionic, cationic, and amphoteric.
