Calcium chloride (CaCl₂) is a white or colorless crystalline granule that is easily soluble in water. It has strong hygroscopic properties and can dehumidify, absorb water, and melt ice. In industrial production, it is generally divided into anhydrous calcium chloride and hydrated calcium chloride.

Calcium Chloride Applications
1. Snow and Ice Melting (Main Application)
It is used for de-icing and snowmelting on roads, airports, and highways. It melts ice quickly and effectively at low temperatures, making it a common chemical for preventing slippery roads in winter.
2. Construction and Concrete Engineering
It is used as a concrete accelerator and antifreeze, improving concrete strength and accelerating hardening, making it suitable for construction in cold regions.
3. Desiccant
Anhydrous calcium chloride is used in storage, moisture-proof packaging, and air drying systems. It has strong hygroscopicity and a significant dehumidification effect.
4. Oilfield Drilling and Completion Fluids
It is used as a drilling fluid stabilizer, operating fluid, and completion fluid to maintain downhole pressure and prevent shale expansion.
5. Food and Pharmaceutical Industries
Food-grade calcium chloride is used in calcium supplements, food coagulants, and preservation treatments, and in pharmaceuticals to maintain electrolyte balance.
